Pre-CNY/Valentine Special: Magmabots by Malvin Roix Orense

It's only a week away until Valentine's Day and three days until we usher in the Chinese New Year, and many of us are getting ready for these events. Since this is my first blog of 2013, I'm going to focus on a combiner made by someone else. Today, we'll be looking on the red-hot Magmabots.

These fiery guys were designed by one person--Malvin Roix Orense. Before that, Malvin also designed the first of the four Sporticons, Rojotron.

SUNOG

The first of his combiner team is Sunog.
Sunog's Original Artwork
Sunog is to describe as a half-track woodcutting machine. His blades make up these claws on his arms. Originally, this creates the right arm of the combiner under the name Magmatron, which is not new to us. One proof is that there is already a character named Magmatron in Beast Wars Neo, which is part of the Transformers series.

This was rendered by Jomike Tejido for the series some of the parts were changed and the Magmabots were changed from Foldabots, which was Malvin's first idea, into evil Lutabots. Sunog was published in December 2012.

APOY

Apoy is the second of the team, which is a driller tank. To be exact, this isn't the first character with a drill. Busado from the Komyutabots is a bus that can turn into a drill machine. Barena in the other hand, is an Ukay-esque Foldabot which is almost like a giant jackhammer except it has a drill instead.
Apoy's Original Artwork
Apoy can use the drill part just like Busado. He also makes up the left arm, the only difference is that the drill is not placed on the hand.

Apoy was released on November 2012, which he came out first before Sunog.

BAGA(USOK)

Baga, the third Magmabot is a missile launcher that even has its separate missile piece. Did you know that Sigwa has detachable missile pieces that can be fitted on his jet wings? How about Pangil with his two icicles that can be stored in his mouth? Xi-Takk, Rumbado, Pollenator, the Sporticons except for Verdetron, and Kalawang each have weapon accesories that were included with their patterns.
Baga's Original Artwork
Baga's launcher module is placed on his shoulder when he's in his robot mode. Baga forms the right leg and he is actually red.

In the rendered version, Baga was renamed to Usok and his red missile launcher turned gray, probably to even the coloring of the combiner. Usok was released just this last month.

ABO(BAGA)

Abo is the fourth member of the Magmabots and he's an excavator truck. He is for the record, the second released character with a shovel arm. Ukay was the first to have this, except he's more like a kind of excavator that's used in the construction site.
Abo's Original Artwork
Like Baga, Abo's shovel arm is placed on his shoulder as well. Abo is the only Magmabot who is black. Abo is the left leg of Magmatron.

Abo, like the previous Magmabot, was also renamed to Baga, in favor of reusing the name. In the rendered version, Baga now has the shovel arm as his right arm, and his color was lightened to gray like Usok. Baga is on this month's issue of K-Zone Philippines.

FUEGO(ABOMINATOR)

Fuego is the leader of the Magmabots. He turns into a tank that shoots rockets. But did you know that the reason the name Fuego was rejected when it was published is the word 'fuego' is actually the Spanish of 'fire', which is the English of 'apoy', which also is the name of the another Magmabot!
Fuego's Original Artwork
As the leader, Fuego becomes the torso. and he also reminisces the older combiners with the shoulder loops and the T-connector tabs found with Sunog and Apoy.

Just like I mentioned, he was renamed to Abominator. It was supposed to be just Abo to reuse the Abo name after the two were renamed. His other parts can be found on another pattern sheet below. Abominator will be released for next month's issue.

MAGMATRON

Altogether, the five Magmabots combine to build the red-hot menace--Magmatron!
Magmatron's Original Artwork
Magmatron, overall, is a good combiner to me. The only problem was that his left leg was oddly-colored as oppose to the main color red.

Now, Magmatron will undergo some changes in the combined form. One is removing one of the hands and replaces it with the blade claws. Another is changing the color of Usok(formerly Baga) to match with Baga(Abo.) There are also parts that were simplified due to the limited sheet space.
