SALIMAO by John Dave Salazar (Hooded Cloak)

#TheFoldabotsBlog #foldabots

On this day, after my trip to the supermarket to buy stuff to stock for the next month, I also picked up the February K-Zone as a compliment to the haul. What I noticed, after I took a look on the Lutabot of the month, Gadya, he was said to be the leader of the Zoobots due to the fact he forms the torso. Also, he is the first of the four winning entries of that contest. Reynell John Sicat is the creator of this massive elephant Lutabot. But we are going to save these up until Zootron gets finished in May, aside from Foldabots' 9th Anniversary.

Speaking of elephants, let's look at another elephant who's a lot more peaceful than Gadya. This is SALIMAO, made by of course, the same guy who made Rakistatron, his versions of Siklo and Pasada, and some based from works from fellow Folda-Fans and himself.

About the pattern, he's basically made from Sungay's design, with bits of alterations which includes dropping the use of paperclips to hold the legs in place, and adding basic arms to the Foldabot. Tusks are still removable due to the concept used from Sungay. Salimao is also based on San Pedro Rafael (I tried to Google for this but I can't see the specific thing Hoodie mentioned.) The tail however is from Umbok or Tulos. His pattern can be seen at Hooded Cloak's DeviantArt at this link:

Instructions:
1. Download and print the pattern on any size paper but keep it in original size when printing.
2. Cut out the pattern by following the RED outlines, the fold the BLUE inside lines.
3. Glue MAIN BODY to itself, glue ARMS and BACK onto MAIN BODY, and glue LEGS onto BACK.
4. Glue EARS and attach TUSKS onto ELEPHANT HEAD, then glue ELEPHANT HEAD onto BACK to finish.

With almost halfway done with Zootron, we still have three more members to uncover, but that will be on a another blog in the near future. I might make new Foldabots which is another X-Over or not, and about the last blog, I also haven't took a picture of how the LEGO vehicles will combine as a robot. I promise I will post you the video on how it's done and snapshots of the finished product over here on The Foldabots Blog. Until then, this has been The Foldabots Blog, WE'LL SEE YOU NEXT TIME!

A Special Review Blog

Got no idea? Read more to find out!

INTRODUCTION

On this blog, I would do something for a change, instead of focusing only on Foldabots since I haven't got the January 2015 issue of K-Zone featuring Joel Lopez' NARANJA, the Lutabot tiger and the first of the Zoobots which was from the online contest on Facebook back then. That was the time I posted this Lutabot called "BAKULAX", a gorilla Lutabot which in my POV, will form the torso and even the arms. I could do two more Lutabots but unfortunately, that's where I closed down my Facebook, and the rest was history.

SOMETHING I DID BEFORE

Now, why am I doing this blog anyway? Before we move on to the climax, let's look at this video which I recorded 2 years ago. You already know ELEMENTRON, right? What if this Foldabot Gestalt was built from LEGO? Here's the result...

THE HEAT IS ON AGAIN

Recently, I got into collecting LEGO again, but not those kids' stuff found in toy stores, I'm talking about Limited Edition ones like those sold at gas stations, when you buy fuel there, you can buy these for a reasonable price. I know, this isn't the time they did this, the first one was from I guess 2 years ago when this other oil company had these Porsche model cars released at the same period. They also had these special recolored versions of three out of the five from Wave 1. Speaking of Wave 1, I never got the Wave 1 Ferrari LEGO kits because of my mom liked the Porsche cars better, we even completed Wave 2 of these, like the Foldabots Mini from packs of bandages, which I also made two separate videos for both gestalts.

Now where was I? Oh, yes. This blog is all about the LEGO kits I recently completed and with no further a due, let's check them out.

THE MAIN EVENT

The initial set is composed of 6 collectible sets, the first four are the F138, F12berlinetta, 250 GTO, and 512 S cars. Followed by two more sets which includes a Minifigure each, which is one the Finish Line & Podium, and the other is the Gas Station. Each of the kits come in plastic pouches and include all the bricks, plates, tiles, and other pieces needed to make the finished product. It also includes spare pieces for smaller pieces, decals in a small pack with a card (all the 6 have the same design with the website written on the back of the card), and the building instructions along with it. Now, some of the bricks in the set are already painted on like the windows, headlights, and other deco such as Minifig faces. The F12berlinetta, 250 GTO, and the 512 S were the first one I got, then the rest a few weeks later.

The first three I got. Top: F12berlinetta; Bottom Right: 250 GTO; Bottom Left: 512 S

Second half of the series. Top: F138; Bottom Right: Finish Line & Podium; Bottom Left: Shell Station

The first one, the F138 is a lot like the one from the first wave but with some nice alterations. On the package, the two green small round plates are omitted, while you can place them anyway for variation.

The F12berlinetta is the first one I built, unlike the first one, this used more red pieces, and I do like the fact that all of the kits are perfected to make them accurate to the real cars, besides the pull back action on all cars.

The 250 GTO is one of my personal favorites because it looks like the model car displayed at my house. Unlike the previous set, this is the first kit to use blue parts in this set, and it's the only one around.

The 512 S reminds me of G1 Dragstrip from Transformers because of his yellow color and his design is a bit similar to the character. The downside to this is the bumper sometimes detach, but I don't care.

Next is one of the two kits with a Minifig, and that's the Finish Line & Podium. On this series, we only have two kits with Minifigs, whereas on the first one, had around three. This has a nice touch because the arc itself has holders for the Minifig's accessories that are located on the side of the arc. The Podium however are assembled from another set of bricks found on the same pack.

The last one is the Shell Station (as said on the pack) which also has a Minifig included. It had more pieces than the rest due to the fact it even had a pack for the smaller parts aside from the other stuff inside. It also include fuel canisters and a wrench that can be used by the Minifig to serve cars you have collected from Series 1 and 2.

SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST

Now, if I'm not mistaken, these aren't the only kits in the set. Fortunately, after the promo was over, my mom went by the station again to fill up and bought this additional LEGO kit which came in the later weeks of the promo. I'm talking about the Shell Tanker which serves as a bonus for those who had completed the first 6. Unlike the first four, it doesn't have a pull back action, and perhaps this is the second kit that had a lot of pieces next to the Gas Station. Also, it had a separate pack for the small parts like the Gas Station had. On the time I was typing this part of the blog, I was already building the Tanker, and I was feeling nervous at the same time happy, now I finished and completed this series like the other Series 2 of other stuff I already have.

FINAL THOUGHTS AND MY IDEAS

Well, the latest LEGO Series was worth picking up, and to those who already got Series 1 complete, this serves as an addition to your existing collection, for those who didn't got them like I did, congratulate yourself for all your effort. Now, I also tried to combine the 5 vehicles into something really nice, a giant robot that reminded me of G1 Menasor. I will try perfecting the output of this big guy, some other time. In other news, I still needed a few more ideas to make a brand new gestalt, aside from using Foldabots Technology I learned as a fan to make combiners with units that don't have individual robot modes. I already made a lot, but I won't be posting them here or anywhere.

Now that the LEGO promotion is somewhat done here in the Philippines, it's back to Foldabots business again. Hope you liked this wonderful blog, and don't forget to leave a comment below along with your name. And as always... SEE YOU NEXT BLOG!

I AM BACK! HAPPY 2015!

#TFBBisBack #foldabots

Did you miss me? No?

After receiving a lot of praises from my family about The Foldabots Blog, I decided to continue what I started. And of course, to all you Folda-Fans who shed tears during the holidays, don't worry, I got new stuff in store for you all!

#ToyBook7 #SIKLO4TB7 #NuShoArrives #WhoLetBangisOut

Just this afternoon, I finally opened my copy of Foldabots Toy Book Vol.7, I was totally surprised of what's inside. Kontrolion and Pestetron both have bios which I didn't expect because I still think of Komyutatron's missing bio which is of course not present in the previous volume. Siklo, like I said, is not the same design concept John Dave Salazar (Hooded Cloak) made a while back. Its sidecar is very different, and surprisingly, it's almost like the last prototype I made, which I also reviewed on one of my videos. As a matter of fact, it also requires to cut a slit to where Siklo's feet goes. Nu-Sho comes in two pattern sheets, one for Nu-Sho himself, and another for his 'Lutafied' version of PUNSO. PUNSO has some spoiler for those who already built it, there are seven sleeve parts which also represent the Toy Book's volume, but the real deal is that these sleeves are meant for the Maximum Lutant Weapons wielded by the upcoming Lutabots who will side with him and of course, Tikbalang who now sides with Nu-Sho. So that means a gestalt team is destined to hold such power, in my opinion, like Mikrokosmos with the Ultimate Agimat Force. MP Bangis seemed to have a lot of development from the previous Masterpiece Foldabot Astig, which only a few knows how to convert him to his skateboard form, but overall, MP Bangis now has a capability to change into his guard dog mode. Talk about IMPRESSIVE.

Lastly, I made changes to latest creation which I already explained somewhere else. Enjoy!

And of course, it's glad to be back in the game, and thank you all for your support all this time. And since it's 2015, we'll be looking forward to the 12 Foldabots and Lutabots yet to come for this year which all of you fans are excited for, and as a bonus, before wrapping up the year, be sure to look forward to Toy Book 8 which will include the Sporticons and the Lutabot Diadrones, and that's just half of the book. And what about Astig's December 2008 version? That depends on everyone whether they want Astig back or not. Until then, this has been The Foldabots Blog, we'll see you next time! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
